Within the family tree, how many races appear?

In the Koko Genetics family tree, we identify and display between one and four breeds for each of the ancestors of your dog or cat.

Our tool is designed to offer you a graphical and simple overview of your pet's origins. To correctly interpret their family lineage, you should keep the following in mind:

  • Breed presence versus percentages: Unlike your furry companion's main genetic profile (where we do detail the exact percentage of their breed composition), at the ancestor level we only indicate whether a specific breed is present or not in their genetics.

  • Identification among hundreds of lineages: The breeds we detect in your pet's ancestry are exactly the same ones we study in the analyzed animal. Our algorithm is capable of recognizing the origin of their ancestors by cross-referencing their DNA information with hundreds of possible dog and cat breeds.

  • Understanding their heritage: Knowing which breeds were part of their parents' or grandparents' lineage will help you understand much better where your dog's or cat's current physical traits, size, and behavior come from.
