Informed Consent for Koko Genetics™ Pet Genetic Testing Services
Version KK-CI-2026-01 · Effective from September 14, 2026 · Replaces the previous version ·
This Consent explains the animal's genetic analysis, its benefits, limitations, risks and data uses. It forms part of the contract together with the product sheet and order summary, the Legal Terms, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Information Update and Sample Retesting Policy, and Returns, Shipping and Replacement Policy. For purchase and withdrawal, the Legal Terms prevail; for the analysis, sample and voluntary choices described here, this document prevails; mandatory law always prevails.
1. Summary: the essentials
This summary does not replace the full text. Read it in full before registering or analysing the kit.
• We analyse your dog’s or cat’s DNA from a buccal sample and provide the modules included in the product purchased: breeds and ancestry, traits and, where applicable, variants associated with certain inherited conditions, family tree or genetic matches.
• The health result is an informative genetic screening, not a veterinary diagnosis. It neither confirms nor rules out disease and is not 100% infallible.
• Even for monogenic conditions, detecting a variant does not by itself mean that the animal is ill or will develop the condition; penetrance, expressivity, breed, other variants, age and environment all play a role.
• Before making a clinical, pharmacological, nutritional, reproductive, neutering or euthanasia decision, consult a veterinarian and confirm the finding using an appropriate independent method.
• Breed, family-tree and relatedness estimates depend on reference databases and algorithms. They are not a pedigree, an official parentage test or certification of breed or ownership.
• We analyse animal DNA. We do not interpret human DNA: if contamination or a signal incompatible with a valid animal sample is detected, we may reject it and apply the applicable retesting procedure.
• The physical sample is normally destroyed within a maximum of two months after the analysis is completed. Technical data are retained for as long as necessary to provide, maintain and update the service, subject to your choices and rights.
• DNA Connect, internal research, academic research and development with companies are voluntary, separate, revocable features and are never pre-selected.
2. Who provides the service
Service provider and data controller: GENELINK, S.L., owner of Koko Genetics™. Tax ID B98649494. Registered address: calle Arquitecto Mora 5, piso 2, puerta 4, 46010 Valencia, Spain.
• General contact, support and incidents: info@kokogenetics.com · Telephone: +34 960 090 596
• Exercise of rights: lopd@tellmegen.com
• Data Protection Officer: dpo@tellmegen.com
• Supervisory authority: Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or the competent authority where you reside.
Koko Genetics, tellmeGen and Vivabioma are GENELINK brands and may share corporate infrastructure and support channels. This does not authorise combining data from their services for new purposes. Any material combination requires prior information and a valid legal basis or, where appropriate, a specific voluntary option.
The service is organised from Spain. Laboratories and other providers that process data on GENELINK’s behalf are identified in the current list available through the Privacy Policy or upon request from support. Replacing them does not broaden purposes or reduce rights.
3. What this service is and is not
3.1 Koko Genetics analyses genetic markers present in a buccal sample from your animal and generates the reports included in the accepted product sheet and order. The technique, number of markers and coverage may vary depending on species, product and version.
3.2 The purpose of the direct-to-consumer service is informational and educational and is intended to support an informed discussion with a veterinarian.
A Koko Genetics report is a genetic screening, not a > veterinary diagnosis. It does not replace an examination, clinical > history, a confirmatory test or a veterinarian’s judgement, and > must not be used on its own to start, stop or change > treatments, medication, diet or reproductive decisions.
3.3 The service is not designed to analyse a person’s DNA. Results relate to the registered animal and do not establish a clinical relationship between GENELINK, the user and the animal.
3.4 Purchase is voluntary and does not require a veterinary prescription. If a modality were offered as a diagnostic veterinary test or under a specific professional pathway, its product sheet would expressly identify this and its specific terms would prevail.
4. Products, modules and updates
4.1 The applicable product is the one identified in the product sheet and order summary. Depending on species and modality, it may include:
• Breed composition and ancestry estimates.
• Physical traits and genetic associations related to certain characteristics or sensitivities.
• Variants associated with inherited conditions and carrier status, where included in the product.
• Family tree, estimated relatedness or DNA Connect, when available and activated in accordance with this document.
• Download of reports and the raw-data formats offered for the product.
4.2 The terms health, disease, risk, carrier, sensitivity or predisposition describe genetic associations within the scope of the product; on their own they are not a diagnosis, an individual clinical probability or a treatment recommendation.
4.3 Interpretive updates and new features advertised as free in the product sheet will be incorporated at no additional price within the species, account and purchased modality while the service remains technically compatible and available. This does not include a new sample, another species, a separate product, a professional consultation or a service identified as separate in the product sheet.
4.4 An update may change the classification or interpretation of a marker without changing the DNA analysed. Each report will show its version and date. A new processing purpose or a new category of results requiring acceptance will not be activated retroactively without the corresponding action.
5. Collection, identification and processing
5.1 You must register the kit and collect the sample according to the instructions, ensuring the animal has not eaten during the specified period and avoiding contact with another animal or person. The laboratory extracts DNA, applies quality controls and the software generates the reports.
5.2 The laboratory receives a unique identifier and does not need access to your name. GENELINK separately retains the information needed to link the result to the account and registered animal.
5.3 Insufficient quantity, food, microorganisms, mixed-animal samples, the wrong species, handling, temperature, transport or contamination may prevent or distort analysis. We may reject the sample, request information or repeat it in accordance with the cause of the incident and the policy incorporated into the order.
5.4 The method is directed at DNA from the analysed species. We do not seek or interpret human DNA. If controls reveal an incompatible signal or relevant contamination, we will not issue human information and will delete unnecessary material and technical data as soon as reasonably possible, without prejudice to the minimum record required for quality, security or a claim.
5.5 We do not physically verify the animal’s identity. The report is attributed to the registered animal based on the sample and the user’s declarations. The domestic chain of custody is not equivalent to a forensic or official chain of custody.
6. Reasonably expected benefits
• Learn estimates about breeds and ancestry and associations with certain traits.
• Identify genetic findings that may warrant discussion or confirmatory testing with a veterinarian.
• Access, when activated, estimated relatedness and matches with other participating animals.
• Keep a versioned report and, where applicable, receive reinterpretations within the purchased scope.
7. Scientific and technical limitations
7.1 Health screening, penetrance and expressivity
A variant associated with a condition may have incomplete penetrance or variable expressivity. An animal may carry the variant and never develop disease, develop it with a different severity, or develop it at another age. Absence of the analysed variants does not rule out the disease or other variants in the same gene.
7.2 Breeds and ancestry
Breed composition is a statistical inference against reference populations. Poorly represented breeds, local populations and highly mixed animals provide lower resolution. Percentages may vary between providers or versions and are neither exact measurements nor official certifications.
7.3 Family tree and parentage
The family tree is an algorithmic reconstruction compatible with DNA segments and reference populations; it does not necessarily identify the actual parents. An official parentage test requires samples from the relevant animals, a validated method, identification and an appropriate chain of custody.
7.4 DNA Connect and relatedness
The amount of shared DNA can be used to estimate relationships, but different relationships may produce similar percentages. Inbreeding, a highly homogeneous breed, population structure, data quality and database size may produce ambiguous, missed or incorrect matches.
7.5 Traits, behaviour and drug sensitivity
Traits are associations and do not reflect the entire observable characteristic. Behaviour depends especially on socialisation, learning, environment and management. A result related to drug response does not authorise administering, withdrawing or adjusting medication without a veterinarian and confirmation where appropriate.
7.6 Scope of the technique
The product analyses a defined set of markers and not the whole genome for clinical purposes. It may not detect rare, new or structural variants, variants in uncovered regions or variants not included in the version. The clinical validity of an association may differ between breeds and species.
7.7 False positives, false negatives and uninterpretable data
No technique is infallible. A finding may fail to be confirmed, a present variant may not be detected, or sufficient quality may not be achieved. Controls reduce the risk but do not eliminate it. We therefore do not guarantee 100% accuracy or any particular result.
7.8 Evolution of the evidence
The classification of a variant, breed or relationship may change with new publications, reference samples or algorithms. We may update reports, but we do not assume an obligation to notify you individually of every scientific change; we will communicate known material errors affecting an issued result in accordance with section 10.
7.9 Raw data and third-party services
Raw data are a technical output, may contain incomplete or unvalidated calls and are not equivalent to a clinical report. Third-party tools may produce different interpretations. GENELINK does not control those services and is not responsible for their security, compatibility or conclusions.
8. Before veterinary, reproductive or welfare decisions
8.1 Before acting on a health result, a veterinarian must assess it together with species, breed, age, examination, clinical history, signs, medication and background. When a decision depends on a specific variant, it should be confirmed in a new sample using an appropriate independent method chosen by the professional.
8.2 Do not make decisions based solely on this service regarding diagnosis, treatment, medication, therapeutic diet, neutering, exclusion from breeding, abandonment, transfer, insurance or euthanasia. Euthanasia and other actions subject to veterinary control may only be decided in accordance with the law and the individual animal’s welfare.
8.3 If you use genetic information in breeding, do so with veterinary or animal-genetics advice, confirmation, and consideration of genetic diversity, welfare and applicable regulations. Systematically eliminating animals based on a single marker may harm the population or breed.
8.4 To the extent that harm does not result from our own breach, GENELINK is not responsible for decisions contrary to these safeguards or for independent interpretation by third parties.
9. Prior information, materials and support
9.1 Before registering the kit, you will have access to this Consent, the product sheet and limitations, the Legal Terms and the Privacy Policy. The order summary identifies the purchased modality. FAQs and educational materials help you understand the service but do not remove these limitations or replace a specific contractual description.
9.2 The platform may offer guides, glossaries and scientific sources. Their availability does not constitute veterinary advice or guarantee that each publication applies to the specific animal.
9.3 If a professional consultation is offered, its product sheet will identify the provider, qualifications, purpose, price, country and conditions. It is not an emergency service. If there are signs of illness, see a veterinarian without waiting for the result.
10. Unexpected findings, versions and corrections
10.1 You may learn unexpected information about breed, relatedness or health. It may be concerning, affect relationships with breeders, sellers or other owners and, once known or shared, cannot be removed from memory or from third-party copies.
10.2 Where the platform permits, you may choose not to open a category before viewing it. That option does not prevent necessary technical controls or error correction and may not be available if the category is an essential part of the selected product.
10.3 If we identify a material error affecting an issued result, we may temporarily withdraw it, correct it, issue an identified version and notify you. Where reasonable, we will preserve the version history or allow the replaced copy to be downloaded and marked as such.
10.4 Reinterpretation due to new evidence does not mean that the original sample or data were defective. The date and version allow a correction to be distinguished from a scientific update.
11. Responsible use and prohibited uses
11.1 Reports, data and matches must not be used or provided to:
• Justify abandonment, rejection, mistreatment, euthanasia, neutering or any irreversible welfare decision without veterinary judgement and a legal basis.
• Replace a diagnosis, confirmatory test, prescription or treatment indicated by a veterinarian.
• Prove breed, pedigree, parentage, identity, ownership, breeding suitability or commercial value to clubs, authorities, insurers, courts or buyers where an official test is required.
• Price, exclude or terminate insurance; discriminate; select animals in a manner contrary to their welfare; or make employment, credit or person-related decisions.
• Send a sample belonging to another animal, a substituted or mixed sample, or one obtained without authority; manipulate a result; impersonate an account; or use DNA Connect for harassment, fraud, unsolicited advertising or mass data extraction.
• Attempt to identify a person through incidental contamination, re-identify data, circumvent controls or reconstruct databases, algorithms or models except where a non-waivable legal right applies.
11.2 We may suspend processing or access where there are reasonable indications of fraud, an unauthorised sample, risk to third parties, prohibited use or serious breach, applying a necessary and proportionate measure and requesting evidence where appropriate.
12. Who may register a sample
12.1 You must be 18 years old and have contractual capacity. You declare that you are the owner or legitimate person responsible for the animal, or that you have sufficient authorisation from whoever is, and that you have authority to submit the sample and receive the results.
12.2 Occasional care, physical access to the animal, status as a former breeder, clinic, shelter, insurer, potential buyer or family member does not by itself prove such authorisation. We may request documentation or block the kit if there is a reasonable dispute.
12.3 For gifts and multiple orders, the person who pays does not authorise the analysis or automatically obtain access to results. The person registering each animal must use their own account and accept this document.
12.4 Professional customers, clinics, breeders and shelters are also governed by their professional contract, including authority for each sample, information to the owner, chain of custody and allocation of responsibilities.
13. Physical sample
13.1 The sample is used to provide the analysis and perform technical identity, quality, retesting, security and incident-resolution controls. It is not used for cloning, assisted reproduction, gene editing or physical-sample research unless separate consent has been given and the project identified.
13.2 Residual saliva and DNA are normally destroyed within two months after completion of the analysis. A retest, claim, quality investigation or legal requirement may justify limited additional retention; they will be destroyed once the reason ends.
13.3 The sample is not added to a biobank or transferred for other purposes under these data options. Research use of the physical sample would require another document, information about the project and the applicable legal regime.
14. Retention, download and deletion
14.1 Reports and necessary technical data remain accessible while the account and service are active, to enable consultation, download, support, DNA Connect if activated, and updates within the purchased scope.
14.2 You may download the formats offered. Legal portability applies to your personal data; contractual availability of the animal’s technical data does not transfer code, reference databases, parameters, models or rights to GENELINK or third-party content.
14.3 You may request deletion of your personal data and, where appropriate, linked technical data. Before carrying it out, we will inform you of the irreversible consequences: loss of access, updates, support, DNA Connect and reanalysis without a new sample.
14.4 Deletion does not extend to data restricted due to legal, tax, quality, security, fraud-prevention or claims-defence obligations. Access and use are limited to those purposes until deletion.
14.5 Backups are isolated from active systems and deleted or overwritten according to documented cycles, with a maximum target of 30 days from operational deletion. During that period they are not used for new purposes and, if restored, current deletion requests are reapplied.
15. Genetic data from another provider
15.1 Where uploads are permitted, you grant us the technical permissions necessary to store, convert, analyse and display the file within the requested service. You declare that it relates to the indicated animal and that you are authorised to provide it.
15.2 We do not verify the animal’s identity, chain of custody, technique, coverage, quality or integrity of the originating provider. The file may be incompatible, incomplete, contain errors or allow fewer reports.
15.3 We may reject malicious, altered, unauthorised or incompatible files. Scientific limitations apply with greater force and no conclusion should be presented as validation of the original analysis.
16. Sharing reports and Professional Access
16.1 You decide whether to share. Where Professional Access is offered, you must identify the recipient, scope and duration. Authorisation is requested when it is activated and may be revoked; it is not presumed from this document.
16.2 Revocation blocks future access from the platform but does not delete copies already downloaded or lawfully incorporated into the recipient’s clinical record or file.
16.3 GENELINK is responsible for operation of its platform. The veterinarian or third party is responsible for their authorisation, confidentiality, interpretation, decisions and subsequent retention, unless the product sheet expressly identifies them as a professional engaged by GENELINK.
16.4 Links or files shared outside the official function may lose access controls. Verify the recipient and avoid insecure channels.
17. DNA Connect and genetic matches (voluntary)
17.1 DNA Connect is disabled unless you activate it through a separate option. By activating it, you authorise the animal’s markers to be continuously compared with those of other participating animals and new matches to be generated as the database grows or changes.
17.2 Before activation, you will be shown which profile elements other users will see, which data are mandatory and optional, how messaging works and what contact controls exist. Your contact details will not be disclosed without an additional unambiguous action.
17.3 A match is an estimate, not an official proof of parentage. It may reveal litters, breeders, adoptions, sales or relationships you did not expect. Other users may provide false information or misinterpret the match.
17.4 You may disable it at any time. New visible comparisons will stop and the profile will be removed from the active index within a reasonable technical period. Disabling does not withdraw notifications, messages, screenshots or data that another user has already lawfully received.
17.5 We do not guarantee that relatives exist, appear immediately, that a match remains stable or that another user responds. We may moderate, limit or suspend accounts or messages for security, fraud or abuse.
18. Research, development and artificial intelligence (voluntary)
18.1 Participation is authorised through a single checkbox, separate from the main consent and revocable at any time. If you grant it, the animal’s technical data, reports, questionnaires and minimum metadata may be processed for:
• (a) Internal research and improvement: validate and improve Koko Genetics algorithms, reference databases, reports, controls and models, including training and evaluation of artificial-intelligence systems.
• (b) External scientific projects with universities, veterinary schools, research centres or non-profit entities.
• (c) Research, validation or development with companies and commercial partners in genetics, veterinary health, nutrition, animal welfare or biotechnology.
18.2 Current information on research lines and types of collaborators will be available in Koko Genetics’ legal or privacy area or may be requested from support. A project outside those categories will require new information and the corresponding legal basis.
18.3 While data remain linked to your account, they will be used in minimised and pseudonymised form. Collaborators do not receive your identity unless a project explains this and you authorise it separately. Data irreversibly anonymised can no longer be associated with you.
18.4 This authorisation does not include the physical sample, DNA Connect, commercial communications, Professional Access or combination with tellmeGen or Vivabioma; each requires its own basis and, where applicable, a separate action.
18.5 Projects may generate publications, databases, algorithms, models, patents, products, licences or revenue. Unless there is a specific written agreement, you acquire no ownership, royalties or approval right over aggregated results or developments.
18.6 You may withdraw authorisation as easily as you granted it. New inclusions and future processing based on it will stop, but withdrawal does not invalidate lawful operations already carried out, publications, irreversibly anonymised data, or allow consolidated models that do not retain a retrievable copy of your record to be individually untrained.
19. Protection of personal data
19.1 Controller. GENELINK, S.L., with the details in section 2.
19.2 Nature of the data. The animal’s DNA, considered in isolation, is not genetic data of a natural person within the meaning of the GDPR. However, the kit code, ownership or care of the animal, account, contacts, messages, questionnaires and linked results may constitute personal data about you or other people. They are processed in accordance with the GDPR. Any incidental human signal is neither interpreted nor included in a report.
19.3 Categories. Identification and contact; contracting and billing; account and security; declared animal data; sample and identifier; technical data, reports and versions; external uploads; questionnaires; preferences; communications; DNA Connect and messaging if activated; and necessary usage records.
19.4 Purposes and legal bases:
• Provide the purchased service, manage the sample, reports, included updates, support and downloads: performance of the contract.
• Prevent fraud, protect the platform, investigate incidents and defend claims: legitimate interest, subject to balancing.
• Comply with tax, accounting, consumer, security and quality obligations: legal obligation.
• DNA Connect, internal AI research, external scientific research and commercial development: the specific option granted for each category, where personal data are processed.
• Commercial communications: consent or legal authorisation for similar products, always with an easy opt-out in every communication.
19.5 Recipients and transfers. Laboratories, infrastructure, hosting, logistics, payment, messaging and support providers act under the contract or legal position applicable to them. The current list, location and safeguards for any international transfer are shown in the Privacy Policy. We do not claim that every provider is always located in the EEA if the current list states otherwise.
19.6 Retention. The sample is governed by section 13; account, reports and options by section 14; billing and contractual evidence by statutory periods; incidents for the time needed to manage them and defend liabilities.
19.7 Automation. The software links markers with rules, databases and models and generates reports and matches. That automation does not make legal decisions about you. You may ask for an explanation of its scope or review of a possible material error; this does not turn the service into veterinary advice or guarantee reinterpretation on request.
19.8 Rights. With regard to your personal data, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability where applicable, and withdraw any voluntary authorisation you have granted, by writing to lopd@tellmegen.com. We may request proportionate identity verification. You may lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.
19.9 Security. We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the risk, including logical separation of identifiers, access control, logging, protection of communications, continuity and incident management as appropriate. No system is absolutely secure. Breaches will be managed and notified where required by law.
20. Liability
20.1 GENELINK is responsible for providing the service in accordance with the order, this Consent, applicable controls and the described technique. It does not guarantee a breed, variant, relative, percentage, diagnosis, benefit or particular result where the nature of the service prevents such a guarantee.
20.2 To the extent that harm does not result from our own breach, we are not responsible for misidentified or incorrectly collected samples; false information provided by the user; decisions contrary to section 8; third-party interpretations or services; external files; prohibited uses; voluntary disclosure; or actions by other DNA Connect participants.
20.3 Nothing limits liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, death or injury caused by negligence, defective product, lack of conformity, essential obligations, attributable data or confidentiality breaches, or mandatory consumer rights. For non-consumer customers, limits will be governed by their professional contract.
21. Change of control, restructuring and continuity
21.1 GENELINK may merge, demerge, obtain financing, reorganise or transfer the business or Koko Genetics brand. During preliminary negotiation and audit stages, only aggregated, statistical or pseudonymised data that are strictly necessary may be shared, under confidentiality agreements, minimisation and access controls. Individually identifiable records or genetic profiles attributable to an animal and its owner will not be disclosed under any circumstances.
21.2 If the transaction is completed, the successor assumes the role of data controller and is bound by this Consent and by the preferences you have configured, without broadening the purposes. We will inform you without undue delay and, wherever possible, before the successor begins processing your data, stating its identity and contact details; you may then withdraw voluntary options, export your data or request deletion. This clause does not authorise a stand-alone sale of samples or personal data.
21.3 A materially new purpose will require its own information and legal basis. If there is no continuity, data will be returned, deleted, anonymised or restricted as appropriate.
22. Territorial availability
22.1 Availability depends on country of residence, purchase, delivery, sample return, species, laboratory and place of access to results. We may prevent purchase, adapt logistics, withdraw a module or suspend it when we cannot comply with local, security or provider requirements.
22.2 You must provide your real location and use the authorised route. You must not forward a kit or sample between countries, alter labels, use a false address or circumvent controls. Costs or loss attributable to an unauthorised route are governed by the Legal Terms.
23. Right of withdrawal and early commencement
The right of withdrawal is 14 calendar days. Withdrawal, returns and performance of the service are governed by the Legal Terms, the Returns Policy and the law. Breaking the seal may exclude return of the physical component for hygiene reasons, but does not by itself remove rights relating to services not yet started. This Consent does not constitute a request for commencement during the withdrawal period or acknowledgement of loss of the right; those actions are obtained separately.
24. Incidents, complaints and security
Report errors, samples, access, matches or uses that may affect quality, security or welfare to info@kokogenetics.com. We may investigate, request a new sample, block access, moderate DNA Connect, withdraw or reissue reports and notify authorities where required. You may contact consumer-protection, data-protection or other competent authorities.
25. Changes and version
25.1 We may publish new versions for future purchases or for legal, technical, scientific, security or product changes. The version displayed and recorded when accepted will remain evidence of your decision.
25.2 We will not retroactively broaden a voluntary purpose or activate DNA Connect or research through silence. If a change requires new acceptance, that function will be blocked until you take action.
25.3 You may view or request the accepted version from your account or through support, and request the version history at info@kokogenetics.com.
26. Languages, law and jurisdiction
26.1 The original is in Spanish. Translations facilitate understanding. In the event of discrepancy, the purchased version or the solution required by the mandatory law of the consumer’s country will prevail.
26.2 Spanish law applies, including Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Organic Law 3/2018, without depriving the consumer of mandatory protection or the courts available to them by virtue of their habitual residence.
27. Electronic record
We record the linked account, animal and kit; product, country, language and version; text fingerprint; date and time; and each acceptance, activation, amendment and withdrawal. The record is evidence, not an irrebuttable presumption, and you may download your copy from the account or request it from support.
Consents
The checkboxes are presented independently and none is pre-selected. Only the first is mandatory; the others are voluntary, revocable at any time and do not affect the purchased service or its price.
☐ Mandatory. I have read and accept the Informed Consent and the Terms and Conditions, and I give my explicit consent for Koko Genetics to analyse my pet’s sample and process the data resulting from the analysis in order to provide the service. I declare that I am over 18 years old and am the owner or legitimate person responsible for the animal, or have sufficient authorisation from whoever is.
☐ Voluntary. I want to support science and knowledge about animal health: I authorise the use of data from my pet’s analysis, in pseudonymised or aggregated form, in research projects. I understand that this includes collaborations and commercial agreements with universities, research centres and companies, and the development and training of artificial-intelligence models. No information that directly identifies me will be shared, I may withdraw this authorisation at any time, and my decision will not affect the purchased service.
☐ Voluntary. I want to receive updates, news and special offers from Koko Genetics. I can unsubscribe at any time.
☐ Voluntary. I want to activate the DNA Connect feature to find possible relatives of my pet within the Koko Genetics community. I understand that my pet will only be compared with other pets whose owners have also activated this option, that a match is an estimate and not proof of parentage, and that I can activate or deactivate it at any time from my account.
Professional Access, use of the physical sample and combining data with another GENELINK service are not authorised here: each requires separate and specific consent at the appropriate time.
Annex. Glossary
DNA. Molecule containing genetic information inherited from the parents.
Marker or variant. A position or difference in DNA analysed by the technique. It may be harmless or associated with a trait or condition.
Genetic screening. Analysis that looks for defined markers to guide or inform; it is not equivalent to a diagnosis and does not rule out what lies outside its scope.
Penetrance. Proportion of animals with a variant that manifest the associated trait or condition.
Expressivity. The varying degree or manner in which a condition manifests in animals with the same variant.
Carrier. An animal with a variant that can be transmitted and that may not manifest the condition.
Breed composition. Statistical estimate against reference populations; not an official certification.
Pseudonymisation. Separation of identifiers using a code; it remains personal data if it can be reversed with additional information.
Anonymisation. Irreversible process after which data can no longer be associated with an identified or identifiable person by reasonable means.
